  • Created in: Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop
  • Hand-coded XHTML & CSS 2.0 Validated
  • Integration of a CMS system (CMS Made Simple) for easy updates

Project scope

For this project, the main goals were to create a more professional looking web presence; it should appeal to both new and existing members and the target audience were mainly for parents who would be signing up their children. Information needed to be readily available and easily found, which required a reorgainsation of existing content from their old site.

Solution

I based the design of the site on a nature theme, using wood planks and leaves as "found objects" to showcase one of their main activities: a summer camp. To appeal to parents and children alike, I used a semi-reaslistic style to give the site a more friendly look. This gives any new members an impression of what they can expect to see when they go camping, and existing members some nostalgia at what they have or will be experiencing.

With the many events and updates to the calendar of 8 different groups, the site needed to be easily updatable, so a Content Management System was needed to accomplish this goal. After programming the initial page templates, I sliced and diced the site which is now being powered by CMS Made Simple.
